Thesis Supervision

If you are a student at the University of St.Gallen, I am happy to supervise your Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis in the research fields of real estate finance, household finance, real estate economics, or alternative investments. You can either apply for an open topic (see list below) or suggest your own topic by writing a short proposal. To propose your own topic, please use this proposal template. Moreover, you should send me your current CV and latest grade transcript. This allows me to better understand your areas of interest and empirical skills. We will then discuss the possibility of writing a thesis on your proposed topic in person or via phone.

I expect you to aim for a high-quality thesis. The objective should be that your thesis is similar to a peer-reviewed article in an academic finance or economics journal. To obtain a good grade, your thesis should include a well-grounded empirical analysis that delivers a novel contribution to existing finance or economics literature. You should be familiar with statistical software packages like STATA, MATLAB, R, or Python. Excel is not sufficient. Preferably, your thesis should be written in LaTeX (I will provide you with a template that fulfills the University of St.Gallen’s standards). I will assist you in the data collection process for your thesis.
